Research and Planning: HOW I'VE CONSTRUCTED MY DOUBLE PAGE SPREAD

I have done some screenshots to show how I constructed each element of my double page spread and how it has all come together.

I started with my blank A3 sheet of paper. I added in the borders so it allowed me to plan where everything was going to be.

I then added the headline to my double page spread. As you can see, it goes across both pages and I have left space on the left for my image.

I then added the page numbers at the bottom corners which is not really visible on this screenshot. I also added the logo of the magazine in the bottom corners next to the page numbers.

Then I was in the position to add in my photo. I edited it and added it in and made it so that my models feet came off the page.

Then I wrote my interview. I made one space on the right hand page for there to be either some more images or another pull quote.

I decided to add in a pull quote which looks good in the position. I have also added in a sub heading below the headline so that it fills the space.

Research and Planning: CHANGES TO CONTENTS PAGE SHAPED BY RESEARCH

I have made some changes to my contents page which I found out about when I was doing more research.
I have added the date, issue number and website into the header and have placed a thin black border all around the outside which is not really too visible on this image.

Research and Planning: WHAT I COULD ADD TO MY CONTENTS PAGE

I have conducted some more research into features of a contents page which I will now be able to use on my contents page.

  • There needs to be an issue number on my contents page alongside the date.
  • I have printed my contents page out and looking at it, I need to add a border around the outside of the whole page because it does not really look right.
  • I will also include the website of the magazine in the header of the contents page.
I will now make these changes to my contents page and update them on my blog.

Research and Planning: BACKSTAGE AT PHOTO SHOOTS

These are some images which were taken backstage of my photoshoot for the front cover. We conducted this photo shoot in the college studio and I directed my friend on how to take the pictures whilst taking pictures myself. The top photo shows all of the features we used. From where the picture is taken, this is where the studio light was coming from. The flashing light in front was used to add a flash and make the image brighter.

Research and Planning: FRONT COVER PROGRESS

I have added the picture to the front cover and this is how it is looking.

Research and Planning: ALL FRONT COVER PHOTOS

I have taken the photos for my front cover this morning. We took a variety of photos so that I could decide which ones to use. I have decided to use the second one because the model is using indirect address and when we did it outside, it was a bit too windy to get a perfect picture.

Research and Planning: DOUBLE PAGE SPREAD SO FAR

My double page spread is coming along nicely. I think that I am going to leave this for now because it has the majority of key conventions included in it.
