Research and Planning: PLAN FOR MARCH

With the deadline to this production coursework quickly approaching, I have come up with a production plan of what I am going to do each coursework lesson between now and the deadline.

Research and Planning: SIGNATURE FOR MY DOUBLE PAGE SPREAD

I asked my model for my double page spread if she could do me her signature. I have scanned this in and tomorrow, I will insert it into the bottom right hand corner of my double page spread where there is a bit of space.

Research and Planning: MAJOR CHANGE TO MY CONTENTS PAGE

After some research, I have made a minor change to my contents page. I felt that there was too much text and content on the contents page and for my genre, there is usually not as much on the contents page. I am going to add less information onto my page but add the font bigger. I am going to make these changes this week and blog it later in the week.

Research and Planning: AMENDMENTS TO MY DOUBLE PAGE SPREAD

I have made some slight amendments to my double page spread. I have moved Emma's Social Media box onto the left page which has left me a bit of space on the right page. I am going to get a hand done signature and then that will fill up the space in the bottom right hand corner. Then, that will be my double page spread done.

Research and Planning: SOCIAL MEDIA FOR THE DOUBLE PAGE SPREAD

I have added a social media banner to the bottom of my double page spread which includes the social media details for my artist on the double page spread. I stuck with the theme of black, white and grey which has been a prominent theme throughout my magazine which helps to attract my target audience.

Research and Planning: FRONT COVER PROGRESS

I have made changes to my front cover which now make it look near completion. I have added my text and changed the fonts which make the space seem more filled.

Research and Planning: FRONT COVER WITH IMAGE

This is the front cover of my magazine with the image added. I will edit the image and make changes to the text so it is visible on the page.

Research and Planning: FRONT COVER IMAGES

I have taken the photos for my front cover. Here are all of the photos I have taken.

I will be using one of the bottom three images because these are brighter. It took a while to get these right because the camera was not very good and the lighting in the studio was also not very good.

Research and Planning: PLAN FOR FEBRUARY HALF TERM

This is my last coursework lesson before half term. Therefore, this is what I will be doing over the half term.

I will not have access to Photoshop over half term so I will not be able to continue with production. However, I will still be continuing with researching things which will be able to shape my production when I come back after half term.

Happy Holiday! See you after half term!

Research and Planning: FRONT COVER CHANGES

I have received some feedback from my tutor and the image was unsuitable for my front cover. The image needs to be direct mode of address. Therefore, I have placed everything in the place and the first week back after February half term, I will take another image.

Research and Planning: HOW I'VE CONSTRUCTED MY CONTENTS PAGE

I have also done some screenshots to show my progress of my contents page.

To start, I chose and A4 sheet of paper and added borders all around the edge to help me plan where things were going to go.

I added in the title of Contents and also did some grey boxes where the text was going to go. I left some spaces blank to allow for pictures.

Then I started filling in the boxes. I started to add in some text and the headings and then decided to start filling in other bits before inserting the images.

I continued adding in the text in the boxes and added a page number and the magazine logo to the bottom right hand corner.
I added social area with logos and websites for the various websites. I also continued to fill in some of the boxes.
Then I started to add in my images.

I filled in the final box and added in the text at the top border.

I then finished the contents page by adding in an advertisement and some more text in the header.

Research and Planning: HOW I'VE CONSTRUCTED MY DOUBLE PAGE SPREAD

I have done some screenshots to show how I constructed each element of my double page spread and how it has all come together.

I started with my blank A3 sheet of paper. I added in the borders so it allowed me to plan where everything was going to be.

I then added the headline to my double page spread. As you can see, it goes across both pages and I have left space on the left for my image.

I then added the page numbers at the bottom corners which is not really visible on this screenshot. I also added the logo of the magazine in the bottom corners next to the page numbers.

Then I was in the position to add in my photo. I edited it and added it in and made it so that my models feet came off the page.

Then I wrote my interview. I made one space on the right hand page for there to be either some more images or another pull quote.

I decided to add in a pull quote which looks good in the position. I have also added in a sub heading below the headline so that it fills the space.

Research and Planning: CHANGES TO CONTENTS PAGE SHAPED BY RESEARCH

I have made some changes to my contents page which I found out about when I was doing more research.
I have added the date, issue number and website into the header and have placed a thin black border all around the outside which is not really too visible on this image.

Research and Planning: WHAT I COULD ADD TO MY CONTENTS PAGE

I have conducted some more research into features of a contents page which I will now be able to use on my contents page.

  • There needs to be an issue number on my contents page alongside the date.
  • I have printed my contents page out and looking at it, I need to add a border around the outside of the whole page because it does not really look right.
  • I will also include the website of the magazine in the header of the contents page.
I will now make these changes to my contents page and update them on my blog.

Research and Planning: BACKSTAGE AT PHOTO SHOOTS

These are some images which were taken backstage of my photoshoot for the front cover. We conducted this photo shoot in the college studio and I directed my friend on how to take the pictures whilst taking pictures myself. The top photo shows all of the features we used. From where the picture is taken, this is where the studio light was coming from. The flashing light in front was used to add a flash and make the image brighter.

Research and Planning: FRONT COVER PROGRESS

I have added the picture to the front cover and this is how it is looking.

Research and Planning: ALL FRONT COVER PHOTOS

I have taken the photos for my front cover this morning. We took a variety of photos so that I could decide which ones to use. I have decided to use the second one because the model is using indirect address and when we did it outside, it was a bit too windy to get a perfect picture.

Research and Planning: DOUBLE PAGE SPREAD SO FAR

My double page spread is coming along nicely. I think that I am going to leave this for now because it has the majority of key conventions included in it.

Research and Planning:PLAN FOR THIS WEEK (W/C 1ST FEB 2016)

Week commencing 1st February 2016:

Tomorrow, I will finally be taking the picture for my front cover. I have booked the college studio and will be using my model to take these pictures tomorrow. I will then be editing this image and adding it to the Photoshop document and continue producing the front cover.
